the overall environmental objective of the project is to ensure the long-term conservation of the rich biodiversity of rwanda specially the nyamasheke region through: the consolidation of in situ conservation of biodiversity in the highest priority conservation areas of the riparian zone ; community involvement in the sustainable use of riparian resources as a means of reducing pressure on sensitive areas and core protection areas (i.e. wildlife sanctuaries); increased awareness and community participation in the conservation of the biodiversity of riparian areas.
