Rwanda State of Environment and Outlook Report 2021

There has been significant progress in the quality of life of Rwanda’s 12.9 million people in terms of human development indicators. Rwanda is the second fastest growing economy in Africa with 9.4 percent annual growth in GDP in 2019. Rwanda aspires to reach middle income country status by 2035 and high-income country status by 2050; and aims to do so while maintaining a green, climate-resilient, and low carbon economy.
