Effective engagement of civil society organizations (CSOs)1 in development has become increasingly urgent with the adoption of the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda).

The 2030 Agenda recognizes the need to mobilize all resources to achieve the SDGs’ ambitious targets and calls on CSOs to play a key role in implementation and monitoring.
