The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) is one of nine UN Human Rights Treaties. It was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 16 December 1966 and entered into force on 23 March 1976. As of November 2021, 173 States parties have ratified the Covenant and are bound to protect.
